The Nail Art Times

 Blue_1

~ *  Enjoying the BYS Matte Aqua nail polish & the best application technique I have ever seen!  This is with no clean up whatsoever!! I blogged about it here: Nail Art ~ Blue Lagoon * ~

~ * My latest polish haul ~ four BYS polishes. L to R: 05 Light Purple, 03 Gold Glitter, 02 French Pink, 10 Silver Glitter.  Totally unimaginative names, really cute colours!

BYS are well known in the nail world for having a great lacquer at a fantastic price.  For instance, these polishes were $4.00 AUD each; I brought all four for the price of one bottle of Revlon nail lacquer.  Sweet!  Plus, don’t you just LOVE the leopard print lids??  I usually pass on leopard print, it’s not my style, but I am LOVING these.  I had to buy them as soon as I spotted them.  * ~

~ * The Gold Glitter in action ~ I would have to say that it’s no where near as impressive as I would have liked, but the three different sizes of glitter is nice and I think that if you layered it over another colour, this polish would really pop. * ~

Vintage Reproduction ~ Almost as fun as the real stuff!

Yay, vintage clothes! : D

So the link to the specific style of Freddie's of Pinewood jeans I bought is here:  Ladies Side Button Jeans.

And really, I can’t say enough how fabulous and comfortable I have found them… I think I want at least a few more pairs and possibly the overalls.  We shall have to see!

Love Vintage? Of Course! ~ Part Two

More from the Love Vintage Clothing Sale & Show; pretties galore, stunning outfits and of course ~ my haul!  So let’s get started.  > ω <

VL_9

I love all these old sewing notions ~ there were actually a ton of old buttons and appliques and patterns and the like; I had to restrain myself and boy, was that hard!  I guess I am just a sucker for anything vintage or antique.

~  Amelia looks great in her perfectly matched daywear; how cute are her shoes and bag!

~  Victoria’s hair is so stunning; it was done by the lovely ladies at The Lindy Charm School For Girls’s booth.

More amazing jewellery ~ pretty pearls & that red gemstone broach with the original case…  Words fail!  It’s too gorgeous!

VL_18VL_19VL_21

These little purses are excellent examples of 1920’s mesh work ~ and the old corset~like top {I have no idea what you would call it!}; I think that was from the 1900’s.   The waist was so tiny though!  I really don’t know how anyone was ever that small!  > o <

And of course, I couldn’t resist a shot of the glorious hats…  *le sigh*  Aren’t they amazing?

VL_22  VL_27

Pretty party frocks and I love gloves!!  Can you see the lovely blue pair hanging in the background of the dress picture?  I found them at the end of the day and had a bit of buyer’s regret; I so wish I could have bought them, but I’d spent all my money!  Although, as my sister wisely pointed out ~ it wasn’t because I didn’t like the things I’d already purchased, it’s just that I wanted them as well! ; P

VL_23

Lucite purses!!!  I die!

VL_10   VL_25

~  Peter looked very dapper in his vest and hat.  Hmmm, that gives me an idea.  “Oh Husband!”  *giggle*

~  I love Lyndal’s shoes and her dress was so pretty; she looked great.

VL_24

Last photo of the day; my nose is shiny, my feet hurt and I am ready for home ~ but really, what a day!!  It was the best and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.  I do hope I get go next year as well!  ω~

I shall leave you with a picture of my haul:  Clockwise from bottom ~  Pink gloves, Pin curl clips, a Crochet and Knitted Collars Pattern, White Hat, 1950’s Dress Pattern, Apple Broach, & Swirly Flower Broach.  Fun, fun! : D

Forget trash ~ {and Lace ~ Outfit Six}

Well I promised more photos and details of all the awesome finds that I thrifted last Friday at Revolve, so here they are!

My favourite thing of all is the full adjustable dress maker’s form I managed to pick up for super cheap.  I do not know exactly how much it cost ~ it was a bundle deal.  I got three environmentally friendly bags {you know, the green bags.  We call them enviro bags in Australia}  stuffed with clothes, handbags, belts, scarfs ~ you name it; and the form for $50.00.  So if we say that the bags were $10.00 each that puts the form at $20.00.  Which is sweet as!

I did say previously that I was not going to put up photos of everything, so here a just a few notable items.

The treasures of my haul consisted of:

~ Elizabeth ~

A Laura Ashley wool coat; worn boyfriend style as it is too big for me ~

DSCF0012        DSCF0014

Cute handbags ~ of which I found many, including a awesome clutch but I’ll show you my favourites {oh, and a lovely cream silk scarf/handkerchief, it has a few holes, but it’s still wearable} ~

DSCF0023         DSCF0030

Leather belts ~ my favourite is the woven black one.  Not only is it that perfect width, it stays in place even with a wrap buckle rather than a pronged one {which is the type of buckle I usually prefer} ~

DSCF0034

And this hat ~ gorgeous no?

Finally, {I have already shown you the pile of lovely doleys I picked up and the shirts} this beautiful crocheted dress.  I think that it’s handmade because there is no brand label on it, or tags describing the contents.  I think it is wool, because of the texture and it is really lovely and warm.  What was meant to be one shot to show the dress end up being an outfit shoot…..   >>  So here you go ~ a gorgeous crocheted vintage dress.  Or “Lace ~ Outfit Six”.

Accessories ~ Hair bow {Best & Less}      Earrings  {Equip}      Watch {Thrifted}      Belt {Thrifted}              Top Layered Dress ~ Vintage/Thrifted

Bottom Layered Dress ~ Crossroads {many seasons ago!}         Long Sleeved Top under both dresses ~ Primark {Scotland}         Stockings ~ Valley Girl

Slouch Boots ~ Florence, Italy {I have no clue what store I got them from….  They were 70 euro though, so they are my most expensive shoes, and most expensive item in my closet full stop at $140.00 AUD!!!  I needed them though; that’s the only reason I brought them.  Shoes in Italy are HEAPS expensive ~ these were on sale!  O.O}

I did pick up some other really neat clothes, but I’m not going to show you them here.  I am saving them for another day, and another outfit{s} shoot!   What people throw away, I mean really…

Well, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.  I suppose that I should be eternally grateful that another man deemed those delightful items trash or I would never have had the chance to own them.  Thank you unknown benefactors!

Which brings me to my final point.  If you have something in your closet or drawers, or even furniture in your house that is not as loved as it could be, but you do not think anyone else would want it ~ think again…

I am going to try to pass on the stuff that I don’t want because who knows, there may be someone out there who ends up thanking their unknown benefactor for the things that I threw out.

It’s the great recycling story of the reloved vintage {and other such pieces} world.  If these things could talk ~ I wonder what they would say?

xox,

b.

P.S ~ Check out A Dress A Day for some exceedingly well crafted stories about dresses.  Erin, the authoress of the stories, totally inspired me.  I’d love to write my own Dress Drabbles ~ or maybe I will branch out and write drabbles on other things….  Like my dress form.  I would what its story is?
