I may be a little bit behind everyone else, but I have been busy browsing Bing images to figure out what sort of details I would like to add to my circle skirt for Casey’s Circle Skirt Sew~Along. Here are a few pictures that particularly caught my eye ~
~ * ♥ * ~ I am really smitten with the full skirt boarder~type print on the right; it’s so cute! ~ * ♥ * ~
~ * ♥ * ~ I love how the pink flowers flow on the left skirt and aren’t the stripes on the far right darling? ~ * ♥ * ~
~ * ♥ * ~ I really like the lace trim on the left and the gold roses are stunning. Plus, the black fabric of both skirts looks ever so good. ~ * ♥ * ~
~ * ♥ * ~ Floral fabric ~ yes please! I am really liking the square necked blouse on the right as well ~ super cute! ~ * ♥ * ~
I have already decided that I would like two patch pockets on the front of the skirt, and then I got to thinking that maybe little bit of embroidery on each pocket would be just the thing to finish it off! I have been really inspired by Katie from The Little Red Squirrel ~ she has embroidered some lovely pin ups on her skirt and it looks fab!
Here are my top embroidery patterns for this project ~
~ * ♥ * ~ I am favouring bows and flowers for my patterns, but that’s no surprise. I think the one on the right is winning so far. Simple, but elegant. I like it. ~ * ♥ * ~
~ * ♥ * ~ I couldn’t resist these sweet little birds and the fawn is lovely too. ~ * ♥ * ~
~ * ♥ * ~ Maybe one of these patterns? I am really not sure… ~ * ♥ * ~
I think that writing this post has helped me to finalize exactly which details I want to add to my circle skirt. It’s probably not that hard to guess where I am going, but none the less I shall leave the final decision a secret for the big reveal. : D Have a great weekend!

How exciting, can't wait to see what you make! :) Love the idea of using a border print, I have been trying to find the perfect fabric to make a border print 50s dress for summer. I LOVE circle skirts but for some reason I am terrible at shopping for tops, so I never have anything to wear on top, so I stick to my outfit-in-one-piece dresses haha. xxx
ReplyDeleteI've been extremely busy with 4 circle skirt dresses in the last month (for a wedding) and it was sooo long sewing them! I'm happy there were no patterns on the dresses, or I should have spent a year sewing them haha! I'm waiting to see your result!!
ReplyDeleteOooh exciting! I love the fun prints on the blue one. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I would love to find some cute fabric like that ~ but it's pretty hard to get a hold of it!
ReplyDeleteWow, four wedding dresse! That's impressive Vivian. I hope mine turns out ok.
ReplyDeleteThanks Elyse! I love dresses because they are easier to wear, but I do like skirts & tops too... I can never decide which I like most so I just end up with heaps of both!
